This auditorium was Calatrava's firstmusic venue, designed to serve the city of Santa Cruz as a concert hall for opera and theatre. The abstract design reflects the site. Tenerife is located on the small Canary Islands whereby beachlife is as much culture as anything. Thus, the giant overhanging wave is ideally located to capture the spirit and culture of the city as an iconic landmark.
